HAPPY NEW YEAR

Once a year, I like to think about how I am, what I've done and what I'd like to do. This reflection usually is at the end of the year, at my birthday or at the beginning of the course, after summer holidays.
Personally, it's something good for me because it helps me to know if I'am taking my life through the good way, and it's a good moment to detect what I need to change. It's important to detect it and doing an effort to change it. If we don't change it, probably things won't change by their own.

The result of my little reflections is a list of things I like to achieve or do i one year, or attitudes I want to change. It's necessary to be realistic because some things are not possible to achieve in one year, but in one year we can do the first step.

Last summer I read a phrase of John Lennon I liked it a lot: "Life is what happens while you are busy doing other plans". I think that my plans are my "list", and I have to continue doing it every year, then life will make a mess of it.

It seems that I'm not the only person who make lists, I liked to see that the illustrator Keri Smith did something similar too. At her 30th birthday, she made a list of 30 things she wanted to do that year, some of them easier than others. Thanks to her reflections she overcame some of her fears. You can read it at her book "Living out loud"

To finish, I let you a message from the 2014 calendar of Mr Wonderful: "You are going to achieve all you purposes in 2014"

In Montmatre district, París, we stopped to have a coffee in this cozy coffee shop. What I liked more, was the fact that the woolen structure of the roof was completely visible. In fact, all the coffee shop was made with wool, the tables, the chairs, the floor...  It's something you may made if you want a warm space.

Something that picked my attention was that they sold the same cups they used to served the coffee, I thought it was a great idea.
Unfortunately, I don't remember the name of the place...

It seems that it is an international boulangerie, I am thinking on going to the one sited in Barcelona...

The new headquarters of the design museum of Barcelona are located in Glòries square. The opening will be during the 2014, although the building have open its doors in some events.

These are some photos I took during an open house celebrated in Barcelona this year. What most took my attention was the way the building had been illuminated, artificially by the roofs and naturally by the skylights. The building has been designed by MBM Architects.

FLORES SECAS

I like to decorate with dry flowers in winter and autumn. I prefer the natural ones in spring and summer, but in cold seasons, dry flowers give to the place a melancholic character, very appropriate for the season.

Here are some examples that I've seen about how to colocate it.

This is how I put them. There is no more than going to the mountain, pick some of them and let them with no water inside a jar. They get dry, and this is the result.

An alternativo to the dry flowers in winter, is buying winter fresh plants. I saw these ones in the Pyrenees, Puigcerdà.

AS SEEN IN...

"THE MOST COMMON MISTAKE IN DECORATIONS?
Precisely to decorate instead of surround yourself with things that you love and fits in your life"

My personal definition of gallery would be: That small, cozy and illuminated space that I'd like to have at home. Maybe it keeps my attention because it combines being small and full of light.

A lot of galleries can be seen in Barcelona, the most beautiful are the ones that are in buildings of the beginning of the 20th century. The use of it can be very varied, depending on the person who lives there. I personally think that it should be a space where someone could be comfortable doing some relaxing activity. To those who like reading, it would be the perfect place to put an armchair, a lamp and a small table. It would also be the perfect place to study. Or to have breakfast on winter weekends.

I've taken some pictures of galleries that I've seen in Barcelona and have kept my attention, what will be in the other side of the glass?

Home staging is a new concept for me, it is extended in other countries like United States or few from Europe, its use is not very frequent in Spain.

It consists in the preparation of your house for selling or renting, most of the times there is no new to rehabilitate the house, with not so many changes it can be sold out or rented easily.

When we talk about our own home, usually we don't notice that some things could be improved because we are very used to that. It is recommendable the opinion of a third person, who can see your house as a possible client.

Home staging is different from interior design, its objective is to depersonalize the home leaving a neutral space, because we don't know what is the taste of the future buyer.

Here is the link of a company that seems be working very well

As a curiosity, the association home staging spain has been created this year, so it seems the thing is growing

Everything that repeats few times can be a pattern. I saw in Ikea the other day, that garden tables and chairs were putted repeating the same combination spread out by all the wall.

It was also the same box repeatedly in the same shelving in "fabrica Moritz".

If we want to create our own pattern, we only have to choose something we like and repeat it few times. It can be helpfully to decorate cheaply an empty wall.

There are patterns everywhere, even naturally. I took some photos in "Parque del Laberinto" in Barcelona and picked my favorites.

FACHADAS AJARDINADAS

Rosamond Carr decorated the outside of her house in Mugongo, Rwanda, planting in its facade. It is located in the middle of a flower plantation, now an orphanage as well, that she founded at the age of 82. She is not alive but it is still the tradition of inviting taking tea to the guests.
