MUY BIEN, PAUL

Mi sobrino de 6 años Paul, hará cosa de un año, estaba tranquilamente haciendo un puzzle, parece ser que la cosa funcionaba y se daba ánimos a si mismo diciéndose: "Muy bien, muy.... bien".

Yo me reí, pero él no lo entendió y me preguntó: "¿Por qué te ríes? Cuando algo está muy bien, hay que decir que está muy bien".

Me gustó su reflexión y no quiero que se me olvide: Muy bien, Paul.

My 6 years old nephew Paul, was doing a puzzle one year ago, it seems that it was working and he was saying to himself: "Very good, very.... good".

I laugh, but he didn't understood why, so he asked me: "Why are you laughing? When something is very good, you have to say it's very good".

I liked his though and I don't want to forget it: Very good, Paul".

FEDERAL BARCELONA

Es todo un reto cenar en el Federal café sin dejar de mirar la buena pinta que tienen sus pasteles, inevitablemente pediremos postre, y no nos decepcionará, especialmente el pastel de jengibre...

Se caracteriza por tener un interior que me recuerda al interiorismo nórdico, per que realmente es australiano, una gran mesa para compartir, una mini terraza, y otra más grande en el tercer piso, pero eso ya se verá en verano. Cuando llegue el buen tiempo habrá que volver al número 39 de la calle Parlament de Barcelona

Dinning in Federal cafe without looking the cakes is a deal, inevitably we will ask for a desert, and we won't be disappointed, specially with the ginger one...

The main characteristic is its australian interior design, the big table to share, the mini terrace in the street and the big one at the 3rd floor, but we will see it in summer. When spring will come we will be back to the 39th of Parlament street in Barcelona.

Desde luego, esta entrada no parece la de una lavandería de autoservicio, así da gusto ir a lavar aquello que no cabe en la lavadora de casa. Y mientras esperas a que acabe de lavar, puedes ir a La Flauta a tomar unos "huevos cabreaos". En el Eixample barcelonés.

POR LAS RAMAS BLOG

Empecé un blog pensando en que escribiría sobre ideas fáciles de decoración y lo llamé faciledecor, pero me fui por las ramas y acabé escribiendo sobre lo que me apetecía. Así que he decidido crear un blog nuevo con un nombre más coherente con su contenido: por las ramas.

I started a blog thinking on writing about easy ideas of decoration and I call it faciledecor, but I went around the bush and I ended up writing about what I fancy. So I've decided creating a new blog with a different name, trying to reflect what it contains: por las ramas.

ESOS ENCANTS...

A los 14 años cogí el metro y me bajé en la parada de Glorias, crucé varios pasos de cebra, di la vuelta a una plaza por la que pasaban muchos coches y llegué a un lugar lleno de gente, sonidos, olores, cosas... 

Allí me compré una bolsa gigante llena de bolas de colores con las que me hice infinidad de collares. Me gustó y fui a por más, y rebuscando entre ropa que había por el suelo me compré mis pantalones preferidos por 100 pesetas, unos pantalones de los años 60 que todavía llevaban la etiqueta, suerte que las modas siempre vuelven, me habían estado esperando casi 40 años... Años más tarde cuando me fui a vivir por mi cuenta me compré una cama, un armario... en els Encants Vells.

El mercado de Els Encants Vells, hasta no hace mucho tiempo, ha estado situado en una plaza / descampado donde los comerciantes exponían sus productos nuevos y de segunda mano al aire libre, aunque los más afortunados tenían sus cuatro paredes y sus cubiertas de microcemento.

Ahora les han construido este edificio tan bonito al otro lado de la plaza de las Glorias de Barcelona, con esta cubierta tan espectacular que refleja desde arriba todo lo que hay debajo. Tiene varios niveles y los puedes recorrer todos fácilmente gracias a las rampas colocadas estratégicamente por todo el recorrido, para que no te pierdas nada... El entorno ha cambiado, pero todavía se sigue oyendo: "¡¡¡barato, barato!!!"

 When I was fourteen years old, I took the metro to Glorias Station, I crew some pedestrian crossing, I went around a square full of cars and finally I get to a place full of people, sounds, smells, things...

There I bought a big bag full of small color balls, I made lots of necklaces with them. I liked it and I went back, looking for in the middle of clothes on the floor I bought my favorite pants by only 100pts (0,60eur). The label was still in the pants and they might be from the sixties, it means that they had been waiting for me 40 years... luckily fashion always return. Years later, when I became independent, I bought a bed, a wardrobe... in Els Encants Vells.

Els Encants Vells was a market in the middle of a big square where dealers sold their new or secondhand products outdoors, except the fortunates ones, who had four walls and cement roofs.

Now, a beautiful building has been build for them at the other side of the Glorias square in Barcelona, with such an amazing roof that reflects the market. The building has different levels and you can walk trough the market by different ramps that allow you to see everything...  The environment has changed, but you can still hearing this sound: "¡¡¡barato, barato!!!" (it means cheap)

FACHADAS AJARDINADAS II

Las fachadas ajardinadas fue el tema de mi segundo post, éste es el volumen II sobre el mismo tema y hablo sobre la que vi en Madrid.

The garden facades was the topic of my second post, this is the volume II of the same topic and I talk about the one I saw in Madrid.

Caixaforum Madrid es un edificio industrial modernista de finales del S.IXX bastante conocido en la ciudad, donde se realizan exposiciones y conferencias. Eso sí que es un cambio de vida para el edificio, pasar de ser una central eléctrica a un museo.

En el 2008, tras su reforma y cambio de uso, se inauguró el edificio tal y como lo conocemos hoy en día. El proyecto fue llevado a cabo por los arquitectos suizos Jacques Herzog y Pierre de Meuron (Herzog & de Meuron) y de él me llamó la atención su fachada de obra vista que genera un voladizo sobre la plaza, como continuación al ladrillo, continúa la fachada con un material bien distinto, el acero corten.

Y para que luego se diga que los tabiques pluviales no son bonitos, vemos que en este caso no es así, ya que se ha conseguido un acabado espectacular gracias a su jardín vertical. Así que ya sabemos, cuando veamos que no nos convence el acabado de una fachada, plantemos en ella.

Caixaforum Madrid is a modernist industrial building of the last IXXth Century, it's quite known in the city, and there are exhibitions and conferences. This is what I call as a life changing for it! Start being a power station and change to a museum.

In 2008, after the refurbish, the building was opened as we know nowadays. The building was projected by the Swiss architects Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meuron (Herzog & de Meuron). What most took my attention was its brick facade that literally flies over the square, continuing the brick the facade turns in steel.

Do you think that the partition walls are no nice? This is not the case, they have a spectacular finishing touch thanks to its vertical garden. So, we know, when we were not convinced with the finishing touch of our walls, let's plant on it!

Todas estas fotos las tomé de noche, así que el resultado no es tan bonito como su las hubiera tomado de día. Precisamente en el mismo Caixa Forum, pero en este caso el de Barcelona (antigua fábrica casa Ramona), también estuve jugando con la cámara a últimas horas de la tarde.

All these photos were taken at night, so the result is not as nice as if it had been taken during the day. Precisely, I also took pictures in the evening in another Caixa Forum, but in Barcelona this time.

COLINDANTE EN EL RASTRO

Una de mis excursiones turísticas a Madrid consistió en visitar el Rastro, un mercadillo enorme al aire libre en el que puedes llegar a encontrar cosas realmente interesantes. A parte de las paradas también está lleno de tiendas de antigüedades, y una de ellas se llama Colindante (calle Bastero 21). Me gustó especialmente por su estética, es muy mona...

One of my touristic tours in Madrid was visiting El Rastro, a huge open air market where you can find really interesting things. Apart from the stands, you can find antique shops, one of it it's called Colindante (21th Bastero street). I liked it a lot, specially because of its esthetic, it's so cute...
